Rob Lawrence

Has served in civilian & military EMS roles over 25 years. He works on both coasts as director of strategic implementation of PRO EMS In Cambridge, MA, and as executive director of the California Ambulance Association. He previously served as the COO of the award winning Richmond Ambulance Authority (Virginia), during his tenure, developing a Just Culture atmosphere that focuses more on education and mentorship than discipline.

Is an experienced broadcast journalist who now serves as the Public Relations manager for the Richmond Ambulance Authority. His passion for helping promote prehospital providers through storytelling shines through. Is a public affairs specialist with REMSA Health, a ground & fixed wing air medical provider, and the largest out of hospital healthcare provider in Nevada. It is her mission to help protect the brand of the REMSA Health organization, and their exceptionally talented providers. With an Accreditation in Public Relations she joins the EMS Leadership Summit on a panel discussion of leading industry PR experts.

Kristy Halvorsen, Retd. Lt

In her mid-twenties Kristy became a trailblazer and leader in fire & EMS as a Lieutenant adept at leading teams, and bringing out the innate ability for everyone to access the leader within. Since retiring in 2017, she has been a coach, partner & guide for many leaders with a mission to reconnect the world to the simplicity and complete freedom that lives at the heart of who we are.

Jack Sullivan, CSP, CFPS

Is a 40 year veteran of emergency services, and currently serves as the Director of Training for the  Emergency Responder Safety Institute (ERSI), a non-profit providing free Traffic Incident Management training resources for all those who respond to roadway incidents. As a subject matter expert on roadway incident operations, and emergency personnel safety, he promotes proactive strategies and tactics for protecting emergency workers from being struck by vehicles.

Creator of the unFIT brand and a Mindset Coach, Rob has worked with clients to help them discover their total health. "I firmly believe my understanding of the human experience creates a natural connection for inspiring my clients to convert potential into something tangible."

Asbel Montes

Chairs the AAA Payment Reform Committee as the industry navigates the current healthcare changes and the correlation to the air and ground ambulance industry. In 2020, he was named to the Air Ambulance and Patient Billing Advisory Committee by the Secretary for the United States Department of Transportation

Jamison Peevyhouse, Retd. Lt

Is the director of customer success at RapidSOS, a technology platform providing 911 PSAPs around the globe with seamless integrated solutions as the world of IoT (Internet of Things) devices grow. He has served as president of the NENA and director of Emergency Management.

Ashley Cashion

Is the director of US partnerships at what3words focused on building awareness across the Public Safety sector, as well as infrastructure, automotive, mobility, tourism and logistics. She joined the London HQ in 2017, then in 2018 she relocated to open the first US office. In the past she has worked in the TV industry at CNN International and HGTV.

Scott Porter, CIO LAFD

Serves as the Chief Information Officer for the Los Angeles Fire Department responsible for overseeing all aspects of the department's technology infrastructure,telecommunications, radios, hardware and software. Scott has over 25 years of experience working in public safety communications both in operations as well as technology planning, development and support

David DanielsMHRM, CSD

Is an Occupational Health and Safety Ph.D. candidate. He is a retired three-time fire chief whose 32-year career began in the Seattle Fire Department. In 2021 he became the first living African American to be inducted into the National Fire Heritage Center’s Hall of Legends, Legacies, and Leaders.

Chris Smetana, AS,FP-C,CCP-C,NRP

Chris Smetana is the CEO and Co-Founder of IA MED. He is also a Critical Care Flight Paramedic/ HSAR Tech and Critical Care Educator with +20 years of public safety experience. In his talk, he will stress the Importance of Understanding the responsibility of establishing a Just Culture atmosphere that focuses more on education and mentorship than on discipline.

Dr. Nadine Levick, MD, MPH

Scott Moore, Esq., EMT

Is the owner of Moore EMS Consulting, and an active EMT for over 30 years. He has held various executive positions, including Chief Executive Officer, Vice President, Director of HR & Operations, at several EMS services in Massachusetts. Scott is a licensed attorney, specializing in HR, employment law, reimbursement, & compliance. Scott is the Human Resources & Operational Consultant to the American Ambulance Association (AAA).

Clarence Dickens, EMT-B, MS

Beginning his career with the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department in 2005, Captain Clay Dickens is the Recruitment Section Program Manger for his department, and a member of the Fire Chief's Equity & Inclusion Leadership Council. He believes in being active in the communities he serves and ensuring the recruitment section continues to recruit a diverse applicant pool, that reflects the communities of Fairfax County. 

Alyssa Vance, MS, NREMTP

Is a paramedic / firefighter with 17 years experience in Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department. Currently assigned to the recruitment section, she engages new talent through community outreach & social media advertising. Alyssa routinely works to keep ideas fresh. She is credited with creating and implementing orientation for incoming recruits. Alyssa also works to keep lines of communication open with other sections in the FCFRD thereby creating a positive applicant experience and a cohesive workplace.

Keith Blevins, PhD

Is a licensed psychologist, therapist & educator training thousands of health care professionals in a variety of organizations, including The Mayo Clinic. In 1977, he met Sydney Banks an undereducated welder who had a very rare, profound, enlightenment experience in 1973. They remained close for the next 32 years, until his death in 2009. Before then Sydney gave Keith an as yet unpublished text of Sydney's last writings detailing "the answer to a mystical puzzle that everyone on earth is trying to figure out, whether they are aware of the fact or not." This answer is the topic of this presentation.

Mic Gunderson

Mic Gunderson has been in EMS for over 45 years in various leadership, managerial, clinical and academic roles. He serves as President of the Center for Systems Improvement & the Chief Strategy Officer for the Cambridge Consulting Group. Mic has recently been appointed by NEMSMA and the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada to serve as Editor-In-Chief of the International Journal of Paramedicine, which is anticipated to launch later 2021.

Louis van Rensburg

Is an Emergency Care Practitioner & Lecturer, primarily involved in pre-hospital undergraduate education within the Western Cape Government Health Emergency Medical Services (WCGH-EMS) at the College of Emergency Care; he also provides Clinical Educational oversight of the Critical Care Retrieval Team run by the WCGH-EMS. He holds a master's degree in Emergency Medicine from the University of Cape Town. He is currently a PhD Emergency Medicine candidate.

Rick Ruppenthal

Spent 30 years as a paramedic, Superintendent for the City of Vancouver & retired as a Manager of Paramedic Education for the BC Ambulance Service. He continues to serve the Emergency Responder community as a Transformative Coach, Executive Mentor, Facilitator for Respect Canada and the founder of the Unbroken Hero Project, which is a project to bring a new health paradigm to the military and emergency responders. 

Wendy Lund, MSc, RN

Is leading an organization to help foster psychological safety and wellbeing in the workplace. Progressive organizations understand the importance of creating mindful & compassionate leaders. They also understand when expert support to build that capacity within themselves and the organization is needed. With roots in resilience training for first-responders, Wellth Management now helps organizations understand the science behind stress, mindfulness and compassion in a way that is relatable, accessible and applicable to the corporate environment.

Russell Brown

Is a paramedic & clinical educator for Southlake Fire Department in Texas. He has published numerous articles in peer reviewed medical journals and EMS trade magazines. He is adjunct faculty for the Tarrant County paramedic program in Fort Worth, Texas as well as the founder and lead instructor for Med Inspired LLC and the creator and host of the Med Inspired podcast.

Éric HamelBHSc.,ACP (f), ICP, M.Éd

A paramedic since 1983 gradually climbing the ranks as an operation supervisor, and finally the clinical director in a service of 500+ paramedics at the Coopérative des techniciens ambulanciers du Québec. He has taught over 2,000 paramedics in a primary care paramedic program. He will be joined by Dude, the therapy dog, and discussing the structures they've created for PTSD prevention. This will be the first presentation in French with English translations provided.

William Martin, Paramedic, RN

Has spent his life working in austere and high risk environments with dynamics teams. He has Diploma in Mountain Medicine, Registered Nurse, Nationally Registered Paramedic, Critical Care Paramedic, CIC, National Ski Patrol Instructor Trainer, Advanced Wilderness Life Support. Electric Utility Lineman, Flight Nurse/Paramedic, Expeditions: Mount Kenya, Kilimanjaro, Mt Rainier, Everest Base Camp, wilderness rescue.

Richard Lee, MBE MStJ QAM FIMC

Serves as the Chief Operating Officer at St John Ambulance England. In addition to this role Richard is a volunteer responder for MEDSERVE the South Wales Immediate Care scheme. Richard leads all of the clinical and operational activity of St John. He is an examiner for the Faculty of Pre-hospital Care at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. He was awarded the Queens Ambulance Medal in 2016 and In 2021 he was made Member of the British Empire (MBE) for his services leading the response of St John to the first wave of the COVID pandemic.

Chris Cebollero

Is an EMS leader that recognized internationally as a leadership specialist. He is also a multi number best selling author, motivational speaker and executive coach. Chris is the Present/CEO of his own consulting firm that focuses on leadership development and organizational process improvement. Chris is running the largest Community Paramedic Home Visit Program along with a Commercial Payor in the United States.

Marques Bush

Is a Deputy Chief and 24 year student of the fire service with a passion for recruiting and retention. Marques advocates strongly for taking care of the whole person. Developing cross-functional teams and organizational equity. His views on what's possible for this generation of leaders are exceptional, and that shows with his attitude and excitement.

Mara Gleason-Olsen

Mara Gleason Olsen is the co-founder of One Solution, an international nonprofit dedicated to solving large-scale global challenges by helping individuals, communities, and systems to change from within. It is Mara’s life passion to educate people about the mind so they can reconnect to their innate well-being, resilience, and capacity for new ideas because it is the most efficient and sustainable solution to any problem.

Ryan Spack

Serve as a direct liaison between the first response community and AT&T’s deployment of FirstNet. Identify the needs of those emergency management professionals on the ground and leverage the resources within the AT&T and government apparatus to bring them to fruition. He manages daily strategic operations of the FirstNet Response Operations Group—responsible for 24/7 emergent support of all public safety agencies on FirstNet.

Chris Kroboth

Is a Paramedic/Firefighter in the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department for over 15 years and in EMS for over 22. He has been in pre-hospital and in-hospital education for the past 16 years. He is currently the EMS Training Captain in charge of continuing education programs and certification as well as affiliate faculty with the Virginia Commonwealth University/Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Paramedic Program.

Cory Key

Has served in the fire and rescue service for 25 years. He is in the United States Marine Corps Reserve at the rank of Master Sergeant and has been deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Scout Observer. In his current role he is the Military Support Program Officer Lead for Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.

Eric Chase

Has held positions ranging from Clinical Services Manager, Field Training Officer, Flight Paramedic, Fire Paramedic. Creator of #EMSImprov, he also serves on the American Ambulance Association Education Committee & is past member of the National Association of EMS Educators, Cultural Competency Committee. Eric is a frequent speaker on subjects; The use of Improvisation in creating safe and collaborative environments, Simulation and Improv, Crew Resource Management, The Handoff, PTSD, and more.
